What kind of chickens do you guys have?

Hey guys!

For those of you who have chickens...what breeds do you have? What are your favs?

I'll start... I have 8 standard-sized hens: 3 Buff Orpingtons and 5 Barred Rocks. They're my first birds ever so I've enjoyed having them. I like the personalities of the BO's - they are all easy going and friendly. Not too exciting to look at, but love their temperaments. As far as the BR's go...they're a mix...ranging from super friendly to...well...not-so friendly! lol

They look very healthy and well cared for!

I have Ameraucanas (silvers) and Marans (wheatens & black coppers.)
Just got the Marans this fall.
I'm suppose to get a few Isa Browns too from a friend pretty soon.

My friends (the ones who are letting me keep my chickens at their place) have Isa Browns. They are VERY good layers, laying large, dark-shelled eggs. They lay double-yolkers pretty consistently...some eggs are so big the cartons can barely close! Poor hens....

So what does everyone else have?

Yes Isa Browns are one the the best brown egg layers IMO.
I miss having them so I'm getting a few.
