I am already trying to figure out how soon I can start hatching, given incubation time, and how long I can tolerate birds in my basement. Here is a setup I used for this past spring. Just some extra window screens and duct tape.

Hi Ethan!
I can't stand the stink more than 1 - 2 weeks.Razz
How come you have to brood them in your basement? Don't you have room in your barn?

I don't move chicks, ducklings or goslings from the basement to brooders in the barn until they are a couple weeks old. I just checked my website to see when I started hatching this past spring, and it was mid-April, which worked well. That seems so far away....
This year I should be able to rely more on my birds to do the incubating and brooding, as I have more broody types now, and a better setup.

I typically keep mine in for just a few days then move them outside but everybody has their own system that works best for them.
Deluxe brooder you got there! albino
