My oldest female, Tiffany, has now stopped setting eggs. Both the young gals are still setting, however. They are side-by-side, and each has an assortment of large and small eggs so Tiff's clutch has been divided between them. Tiffany herself is having a fine time letting the young girls do the work while she's off enjoying the weather and snoozing with the boys (although she does revisit the nests occasionally and once in awhile will spend a few hours on the nests with the younger females). Is this usual as a female gets older?

I have no idea. Maybe somebody else here will know why a bird stops setting.
Maybe she figured why bother when shes got 2 babysitters? Laughing
This forum has been basically unactive so if you need answers fast try The BackYardChickens waterfowl forum.

Gosh, how will I ever get to be a grown-up duckling if I'm posting on the chicken site? Very Happy

Anyway, all three were on the nest this morning, but Tiff does take the opportunity to go for a stroll when the weather is nice! I think you're right - she's got babysitters so why knock herself out! Smile

Good news Judith!

BYC is VERY active and they have a very active waterfowl forum so I thought I would let you know. There's been NO activity on The Waterfowl Place.
I posted there recently but nobodys been posting there. I guess because I suggested everybody come here but the WFP members aren't posting here either.

Glad to hear the eggs are getting set on Judith! Let us know how the hatch goes.

Vicky - sorry we've been slacking! I haven't been on here for a while now that I have a job again.
