With egg setting season around the corner, I've been thinking about preparing my birds for the laying season.

None of the feed stores in my area sell breeder ration (only starter and grower rations). I've read the birds should be on breeder rations for about a month before egg laying starts for best results.

Does anyone have any recipes for mixing your own breeder rations?

Does anyone bother with swiching to breeder rations before the laying season?

Thanks

I just use the Purina Layena pellets for chickens.
Some people use gamebird pellets. I also feed them whole oats and a little bit of black oil sunflower seeds.
